Learn Laravel Queues, Caching, and Idempotent Jobs
Choose work that can run asynchronously
Long reports, notifications, and independent integrations may fit a queue. Keep the user-facing request responsive and communicate whether work is pending or complete. Define job timeouts and retry behavior based on the operation rather than applying unlimited retries.
Make jobs safe to retry
Workers can execute a job more than once. Use idempotency keys, unique constraints, or guarded state transitions where repeating an action could duplicate a charge, notification, or record. Record enough context to diagnose a failed job without logging secrets or unnecessary personal data.
Design cache invalidation and privacy
Cache keys should include the right scope and version. Do not share user-specific data across identities. Decide when cached values expire or are invalidated and measure whether caching actually improves the required workflow.
Practice task
Queue a report-generation job, test retry and duplicate-delivery behavior, and write an operational note for failed jobs and cache freshness.
