Build a small release runbook

For a sample service, document how code is tested, packaged, deployed to a non-production environment, and checked for health. Include the person who approves a release and the condition that would trigger a rollback.

Cloud and DevOps work connects application delivery with the infrastructure, automation, and operational practices that keep services reliable. This course introduces a vendor-aware but transferable workflow: understand the environment, package an application, automate checks, deploy deliberately, and monitor what happens.

Build foundations before automation

Learn cloud service and deployment models, Linux command-line concepts, networking basics, environment configuration, and source control. Understand which responsibilities belong to a cloud provider and which remain with the team operating an application.

Package and deliver applications

Practice container concepts, image and configuration management, CI/CD stages, automated tests, deployment approvals, and infrastructure-as-code planning. Exercises use non-production examples and emphasize reviewable changes, safe credentials handling, and rollback planning.

Operate with visibility and care

Use logs, metrics, and alerts to investigate a simulated service issue. Apply least-privilege access, secrets management, backups, and change review as part of the delivery lifecycle. Specific cloud vendors, account access, lab costs, schedule, and delivery format must be confirmed for the current cohort.
