Learn CI/CD Pipelines: Tests, Builds, and Safer Deployments
Make changes visible
A pipeline can run formatting, unit tests, dependency checks, and builds when code changes. Clear stage names and logs help a reviewer understand what passed and what failed.
Promote artifacts deliberately
Build an artifact once and promote the reviewed artifact between environments where possible. Keep development, staging, and production credentials separate. Give pipeline identities only the permissions they need.
Add release controls
Use required reviews or approvals for sensitive deployments. Verify configuration and health after deployment. Define when to stop, roll back, or escalate before a release begins.
Keep secrets and logs safe
Use the approved secret store, mask values in logs, and avoid printing tokens during debugging. Pipeline logs are operational records and should not reveal credentials or personal data.
