Learn MERN Capstone Project and Responsible AI Coding
Scope a project you can complete
A capstone demonstrates how you turn a problem into a working application. Choose a fictional or properly authorized brief, identify intended users and define a small set of essential journeys. State what is out of scope so the project remains testable and achievable.
Plan the architecture
Sketch the React screens, API routes and MongoDB data model before implementation. Define the request and response shapes, input validation and access rules. Keep setup instructions and configuration requirements documented.
Build and test an end-to-end feature
Connect the client, server and database for a complete user flow. Test expected success and failure paths. Include accessible UI states, server-side validation, useful errors and tests for important behavior. Use synthetic data and do not disclose confidential client material or personal information.
Use AI coding assistance with judgment
An AI assistant may help explain an error, suggest test cases or compare approaches. Check suggestions against documentation and requirements, run tests and understand each accepted change. Generated code can be incorrect, insecure, licensed inappropriately or incompatible with project conventions. Do not share credentials, personal data or confidential source code with a tool without authorization.
Present work honestly
Include a problem statement, architecture notes, setup steps, tests, limitations and next steps. Label synthetic records. Do not claim real users, production readiness, security certification or performance results unless these are supported by evidence. Explain your own contribution accurately.
